Andreas Rothbauer is Head of Theatrical Sales & Int. Acquisitions at Beta Cinema, the theatrical division of Beta Film GmbH.
Andreas joined Beta Film in 2000 to take part in the launch and start-up of Beta Cinema in early 2001.
Aside from Sales Credits for Academy Award nominated and winning films like ‘The Downfall’, ‘The Lives of Others’ and ‘The Counterfeiters’, Andreas was responsible for some of Beta Cinema’s international key acquisitions like Sergei Bodrov’s Oscar nominated epic ‘MONGOL – The Rise to Power of Genghis Khan’ and Paulo Sorrentino’s Cannes Jury Prize Winner ‘Il Divo’.
Andreas participated in the EAVE 2002 (European Audiovisual Entrepreneurs) Programme as well as the first edition of the MD workshop of the MEDIA BUSINESS SCHOOL in 2001 and has given lectures on international film distribution at film schools in Berlin, Cologne as well as the German-French Masterclass.
Before joining Beta Cinema, Andreas was working for the European Commission and prior to that as journalist and researcher.
Andreas studied in Berlin, Wellington (New Zealand) and Rome. He holds a Master Degree in ‘Audiovisual Management’ as well as a diploma in ‘Political Science’.
He is a passive FIPRESCI member and currently one of the board director’s of the German Film Exporters association (VDFE).
