With over 20 years experience in the film industry, specifically in sales and distribution, Colin is one of the few professionals in the UK distribution industry with hands-on experience of running both theatrical and home entertainment operations. His experience at Mainline Pictures, Polygram, FilmFour and currently at Verve Pictures has given him a unique understanding of the full exploitation of film product.
In 1995 he was involved in the set-up of the UK theatrical distribution operation of Polygram Filmed Entertainment, which helped establish Polygram UK as a prominent distributor with successes such as Four Weddings and A Funeral, The Usual Suspects, Trainspotting and Twelve Monkeys.
Colin Burch then founded FilmFour Distributors for Channel Four Television and over seven years he positioned the company as of one of the leading independent distribution companies encompassing theatrical, rental and sell-through video and ancillary sales divisions.
In 2003 Colin founded Verve Pictures with Julia Short, which over six years has developed into a leading independent distributor, specialising in the release of British product such as Bullet Boy, the Cannes Award Winning Red Road, and the documentaries Scott Walker – 30 Century Man and Patti Smith Dream Of Life.
Upcoming releases include Cuckoo starring Richard E Grant and Laura Fraser, Tribeca winner The Arbor and Marc Evans Patagonia.
Verve also distribute titles on behalf of MGM, including the Lars and The Real Girl starring Ryan Gosling Jnr, Death At A Funeral directed by Frank Oz and Mr Brooks starring Kevin Costner and Demi Moore and on behalf New Wave Films including The Time That Remains, Alamar, How I Ended The Summer and Cannes Palme D’Or Winner Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall Has Past Lives.
