In January 2006 Daniel joined Oliver Simon at K5 as partner and producer. Since then they both transformed K5 Media Group into a world-wide operating media company with offices in Munich, London and Los Angeles that is covering all elements from sales (K5 International), to production (K5 Film) and financing (K5 Media Capital). At K5 Daniel produced and executive produced several feature films over the last years like for e.g. “Night Train to Lisbon” directed by Bille August starring Jeremy Irons and Melanie Laurent and “Get Low” starring Robert Duvall and Bill Murray.
Before joining K5 Daniel consulted on the packaging and financing on numerous international feature films. He worked on the packaging, financing and production of films such as Robert Altman’s “The Company” produced by Killer Films, Robert Towne’s “Ask The Dust” produced by Tom Cruise and Paula Wagner and “The Punisher” starring John Travolta. Daniel also coproduced “Eulogy” starring Debra Winger and Famke Janssen produced by Steven Haft.
Daniel started his career studying entertainment law and literature at Freiburg im Breisgau, Cologne and Strasbourg. He expanded his education in film production with a Masters in Audiovisual Management (Honours) at the respected Media Business School in Spain. This was followed by an internship in the entertainment division of Deutsche Bank and the copyright department of the European Commission in 2001.
Daniel Baur is an official media expert of the European Commission and teaches at different programs of the MEDIA program. He is also member of the advisory board of mediaXchange.
